Bioptigen's pioneering in vivo optical imaging technology allows academic and life science researchers to see pathologies at their earliest stage with unprecedented detail and clarity across a wide range of subject applications.
This sophisticated OCT hardware and software system enables real-time non-invasive imaging of internal tissue microstructure at an unmatched level of precision and depth, extending the application space to cover a wide range of human and animal subjects. These advances make it possible for researchers to open up new avenues of biological exploration and development, and to foster advances in disease detection and management.
Bioptigen's 3D SDOCT systems are ideally suited for biotech, biomedical, clinical research and pre-clinical pharma applications. Bioptigen's product suite includes a broad selection of application-specific scanners, including clinical scanners, hand-held probes, and OCT microscopes, OSDR engines operating at 840 or 1310 nm, and state-of-the-art software for advanced structural and functional OCT imaging. The 1310 nm engine is the OSDR engine of choice for a variety of applications such as tissue imaging, anterior segment imaging, small animal, external and ex-vivo imaging, while the 840 nm engine is ideally suited to image the retina in small animals (rodents, rabbits), large animals (such as dogs and pigs), and humans. Bioptigen's systems enable the researcher to resolve the microstructures of the retina in fine detail, such as the nerve fiber layer, the inner and outer plexiform and nuclear layers, and those of the retinal pigment epithelium, and the vessels of the choroid. The tissue structure of the cornea, conjunctiva and sclera can also be very clearly visualized with a mere change in focal position and no increase in optical power.
Bioptigen's software suite works in tandem with the scanner and engine to offer intuitive and flexible system control with advanced functionality including high-speed volume acquisition and imaging, volume intensity projections for generating en face images (similar to the fundus images acquired of the retina) that enable accurate cross-sectional image registration, and Doppler processing for quantifying system dynamics and flows. Two unique, powerful features are the ability to reprocess the acquired spectral data and the ability to perform automated dispersion compensation optimization. These features give the imager the ability to optimize image quality even after acquisition is complete. Images can be saved in one of several different formats, allowing for the data to be exported to other applications for further processing, measurement, segmentation or 3D rendering.
